Rapid Fire Networking Starts in September
We're kicking off Rapid Fire Networking this month. 1:1 speed intros with other marketers, agency folks, vendors, and operators in the community.
📅 3rd Thursday of every month
🕛 12:00 PM CT
📍 Virtual (inside the Slack community)
Fair warning: this is the pilot. We're still working out the quirks, the timing, the intro format, all of it. But that's part of what makes an early cohort fun. Come hang out, meet a few good people, and help us figure out what this thing should be.
Writing for Humans and Machines: The New Website Playbook
The bots got there first. Here's what they see.
Try this the next time you need an answer to something real: Notice where you actually go first.
For a lot of us, it's not Google anymore. It's ChatGPT. Or Perplexity. Or a Slack channel. Or that one Reddit thread that always seems to know.
That's the shift. It's not coming. It's here.
Buyers are getting answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Reddit threads, Slack communities, and the three newsletters they actually open. Your website is still doing the work — it's just doing it for a very different audience now. AI systems are reading it, summarizing it, and deciding whether to recommend you before a human ever sees a homepage.
The 3-Question Website Test
Before you rewrite a homepage, restructure a stack, or brief a new agency, run your site through these three questions. If you can't answer yes to all three, you already know where to start Monday morning.
1. Can an AI answer "what does this company do?" in one sentence using only your homepage?
Open ChatGPT or Perplexity, paste your URL, and ask. If the answer is fuzzy, your positioning is fuzzy. Humans are just more polite about it.
2. Does your site answer the questions your buyers actually ask in the words they actually use?
Not the keywords your SEO tool suggested. The real questions. Pull them from sales calls, support tickets, and Slack DMs. Then answer them plainly, on a real page, with a real headline.
3. If someone quoted one sentence from your site in a Slack channel, would anyone care?
That's the bar now. Content that gets shared in communities is content that travels. Everything else is just… there.
Most sites fail at least one of these. The good news is all three are fixable in a week, not a quarter.
Want a number to go with the gut check?
If those three questions felt uncomfortably open-ended, here's a quick way to get a real score. HubSpot just released a free tool called the AI Search Grader that shows you exactly how ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini describe your brand — no account, no credit card, one-time check. You plug in your company name, industry, and product, and it grades you out of 100 across five dimensions: sentiment, presence quality, brand recognition, share of voice, and market position. It's the fastest way I've found to see whether the AI engines actually know you — and more importantly, whether what they're saying about you is anywhere close to what you'd want them to say. Run it on your company. Then run it on your top competitor. That gap is your work for Q4.hubspot
(Full disclosure: I rebuilt my own site, Double Atari, around exactly this test earlier this year. Cory covered it back in June if you missed it. Happy to trade notes with anyone in the Slack who's tackling the same thing.)martechbonanza

The Community: Join the Conversation
Here's the honest part: the best thinking in martech right now isn't happening in newsletters or on LinkedIn. It's happening in small Slack channels where people actually say what's working and what isn't.
That's what we're building inside the Martech Bonanza Slack community — a private space for marketers, agency folks, vendors, and operators to swap notes, ask ugly questions, and share the wins that don't make it onto LinkedIn.
What's inside right now:
Weekly threads on what's actually working (AI, AEO, outbound, community)
Monthly Rapid Fire Networking — 1:1 speed intros, 3rd Thursday, 12pm CT
Job and freelance opportunities from other members
Early access to guest articles and Tech Duels before they hit the newsletter
We put the community on pause while I started a new role. It's back. And it's the best time to join — small enough that you'll actually meet people, active enough that it's already useful. The Future of Marketing Is Community-Led!
